In 1975, Fiat Group integrated the five top European commercial vehicle brands and created Iveco. In the following 30 years, through international mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, Iveco made continuous efforts to achieve its globalization and multicultural operation.
Today, as one of Fiat's industrial units, Iveco company conducts development, manufacture and sales of trucks, buses and other commercial vehicles worldwide. The complete range of products includes cost-effective and eco-friendly light, medium, and heavy commercial and industrial vehicles which are used for cargo transportation and distribution; the most economical and eco-friendly passenger cars in design, which are used for public buses and tourist transport; the highly reliable construction vehicles which can be used for the transportation of heavy materials under all terrain conditions; fire trucks for rapid and efficient fire fighting; and civil defense and military vehicles.
With its advanced technology and superior products, Iveco operates in 11 countries and employs approximately 25,000 employees. In addition to Europe, Iveco operates in China, Russia, Australia and Latin America. There are 5,000 sales service stations in more than 160 countries, ensuring that in any corner of the world, where there are Iveco vehicles, there are technical supports from Iveco.
Iveco is the first international commercial vehicle company to enter the Chinese market: in 1985, the company signed a technology transfer agreement with NAC (Nanjing Automobile Group Corporation), and started the production of light commercial vehicles in China; in 1991, the first TurboDaily production line was completed, and Iveco began its ambitious investment plan in the Chinese automotive industry; in 1996, Iveco and NAC established the joint venture NAVECO to manufacture and sell light commercial vehicles. And in 2007, Iveco clearly put forward the "China First" development strategy. Through the cooperation with SAIC Motor Corporation Limited and Chongqing Machinery & Electronics Holding (Group) Co. Ltd., Iveco set up SAIC-IVECO-Hongyan Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. for the manufacture and sales of heavy trucks, thus becoming the first international commercial vehicle company to complete its layout in China.
On September 29, 2012, Iveco (China) Commercial Vehicle Sales Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Iveco China") was officially established. Iveco China is one of the four pillars of Iveco's global strategy, as well as the important executor of its strategy and business in China. Its mission is to import the high-end commercial vehicles produced by European subsidiaries to China, at the same time, to export vehicles produced by Iveco's joint venture in China to foreign markets through Iveco worldwide sales network.
